Reggio’s Treehouse aims to guide the intellectual curiosity of our students and prepare them to become self-directed learners who have a positive image of themselves, their peers and a deep respect for their environment.
Reggio’s Treehouse was born in 2017 when two life long friends, one an educator and the other a small business owner, began discussing the significance of early childhood education and the need for quality care in their community. Both being parents, these two friends recognized the impact of a quality education on a child’s ability to learn and grow as they progress through their formative years. After several discussions, these two friends formed Reggio’s Treehouse.
Reggio’s Treehouse embraces the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education because of it’s close alignment to our school’s philosophy and for the documented success of the approach. The Reggio approach coupled with Project Based Learning ensures your child will master the skills and lessons to prepare them for their primary education.
Our educator founder, Ms. Ayesha, is considered an early years education expert. She completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology and graduate degree in Linguistics in 1997. She also completed advanced education credits from The Buck Institute for Education and from the University of Aurora, Chicago along with completing 41 hours of training at Harvard University in “Teaching for Understanding: Focus on Student Understanding”. Ms. Ayesha is certified by Association Montessori Internationale (AMI); a teacher trainer for Project Based Learning (PBL) from the Buck Institute and began solely focusing on the Reggio Emilia Approach in 2009. She began her career over 20 years ago as an assistant teacher in South Riding, VA and most recently established and concurrently operated two pre-primary and primary Reggio Emilia / International Baccalaureate (IB) schools. Ms. Ayesha was an integral part of obtaining IB authorization for all three levels of the IB program. Ms. Ayesha has led workshops in Kuala Lampur for the Malaysian government; served as a panelist to discuss the needs of education in the 21st Century at the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos in collaboration with Penn State University; and participates in a host of other professional conferences. Education is her passion.
Our business founder, Kashef Mahmud, brings extensive experience and knowledge in business management, operations and sales. Mr. Mahmud has held a variety of business management positions for start-ups and Fortune 500 companies. Most recently, he started a technology company focused on providing data management solutions to the U.S. Federal Government. Mr. Mahmud grew his company from start-up to a $20M company in three years. He understands the challenges of operating a successful business and the value a successful company can provide to its shareholders and community.
