OUR facilitators

In addition to all the functions of running a program, a Reggio’s Treehouse facilitator must ensure they are creating enough “provocations” [ to provoke thoughts, discussions, questions, interests, creativity and ideas] which open lines of inquiry with the children. They must then guide, explore and extend that line of inquiry. A unique feature of Reggio is the documentation it requires. Facilitators observe and listen closely to children to determine how to plan or proceed with their work. They ask questions and discover children’s ideas, hypotheses and theories. They collaboratively discuss what they have observed and recorded; and they make flexible plans and preparations. Facilitators then enter into dialogues with the children and offer them occasions for discovering and also revisiting and reflecting on experiences because learning is an ongoing process. Facilitators are partners with children in a continual process of research and learning.

The Environment

The environment is all matter around the young learner, from what we create inside the classrooms to what we find outside in nature. The environment is the third teacher. It is recognized for its potential to inspire children. Where the purposeful environment encourages a deeper interest in the subject matter and encourages collaboration, communication and exploration.
