ATELIERISTA

Job Description:
An Atelierista should be an adaptable and inspiring educator with the ability to run an inquiry-based Reggio Emilia program. Art is at the heart of the Reggio pedagogy; the objective of a Reggio atelierista is to ensure children are expressing themselves in a ‘hundred different languages’ utilizing visual arts. The candidate should be capable of facilitating a stimulating, challenging and well-organized learning environment. The candidate must be dedicated to early childhood education and help create a high-quality teaching and learning environment. The Atelierista will make effective use of resources, prepare new resources and continuously improving our standards of learning for all students. Daily tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Help in planning, preparing and delivering lessons in line with the Reggio philosophy that cater to the individual needs of students
  • Assist in monitoring, recording and assessing student progress and development
  • Provide immediate and appropriate responses based on student needs.
  • Use various forms of technology to document the experiences of children in the atelier as well as support the documentation of student/classroom experiences
  • Inspire other teachers with creative ideas and collaborate with them to extend their inquiries
  • Develop meaningful experiences using multiple medium including light and shadow, color, paint, clay, nature, movement, sound, etc.
  • Curate student work and ensure displays are presented in a meaningful manner
  • Make the students thinking visible throughout the school
  • Help in displaying student work to present to parents and help other staff members set up installations

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

Job Description:
Reggio’s Treehouse (RTH) is currently looking for a qualified Assistant Director (AD). At RTH an Assistant Director is a key member of our administrative team and works to support the mission and values of Reggio’s Treehouse. The AD is responsible in helping in the daily operations and administration of the school and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines. With guidance from the Executive Director (ED), the AD oversees the curriculum and markets the facility and our programs. Depending on staffing ratios, the Assistant Director may need to function in any capacity within the facility, including filling in as interim director or a classroom teacher or performing administrative duties. He or she must have a good understanding of childcare management and early education. Qualified candidates should have a degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, with 4 years or more working in Early Childhood Education. Familiarity or experience with the Reggio Emilia philosophy is highly desirable.

  • Work closely with the ED and teachers to oversee all aspects of classroom program planning, implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of RTH’s philosophy
  • Monitor and document all written communication with Parents
  • Provide expert advice on Reggio Emilia Philosophy. Regularly attend trainings/conferences and read journals to keep abreast on current developments in area of expertise
  • Work in coordination with the Executive Director to hire, train, mentor and supervise all of RTH’s program staff
  • Recruit and interview prospective employees
  • Provide orientation for new staff members
  • Ensure efficient scheduling to maintain required staff/child ratios
  • Work with preschool classroom staff in moving along the continuum of implementing RTH’s appropriate aspects of Reggio Emilia inspiration, Emergent Curriculum and extended projects
  • Scheduling and documenting regular staff meetings
  • Assist in conducting written performance reviews and performance review conversationsof all preschool classroom teachers

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related fields
  • At least four years work experience in a licensed child care facility; kindergarten or early childhood program. Experience in a Reggio Emilia inspired school is highly desirable

LEAD FACILITATOR

Job Description:
As a lead facilitator you will be working closely with the Assistant Director (AD) ensuring that the standards set by Reggio’s Treehouse and Virginia are met in an organized and timely manner. A lead facilitator must actively research and implement effective provocations and document the findings. Since the curriculum is emergent, the facilitators must ensure all documentation is submitted to the AD in a timely manner.

RECEPTIONIST

Job Description:

  • Act as the first point of contact for the school: welcoming visitors and responding to telephone and email inquiries in a helpful and constructive manner and ensure that appropriate actions are taken in a timely manner
  • Ensure the safety and security of the school at all times, making sure that the front door is locked and entry to the premises controlled. Ensuring that all visitors sign in and take a visitor badge where necessary
  • Keeping records of phone and mail inquiries will be a part of the job as receptionist. The receptionist might create reports and file records of school operations, maintain and keep confidential information for all school records, including:
    • Student registrations and class schedules
    • Student immunizations
    • Bus schedules and routes
    • Academic transcripts
    • Teachers' classroom assignments
    • Brightwheel data entry
  • Assisting with all admissions related tasks, including preparations for and assistance at open day, taking calls and recording details of inquiries from prospective new families
  • Maintaining and updating school information, records and databases
  • Receive, sort and distribute all packages, deliveries and mail
  • Ensuring that the reception area is kept clean and organized and that noticeboards are kept up-to date
  • To assist with the ordering of stationery, materials and resources and ensuring that stock levels are maintained
  • Assist with various administrative tasks and duties, utilizing Word, Excel, Outlook email and the school database updated. (training will be provided)
